Pennsylvania June 2023 report: iGaming up by 32%

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has reported its total revenue for June 2023 in all verticals, reflecting a 13% increase overall, but also reflecting a huge drop in revenue from fantasy contests by 44%.

The total gaming revenue for Pennsylvania during June 2023 was $440.5m, an increase of 13% compared to the $389.8m revenue generated in June 2022.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse came out as the highest earner, making up $72.5m of total revenue. Meanwhile, Bally’s Pennsylvania brought in the least during June 2023, earning a total of $449,549.

June’s revenue from slot machines was $201.5m, a 4% increase in revenue when compared to the $193m generated in June 2022.

The graph presents the different wagering verticals in Pennslyvania and how much they made in June 2023.

Retail table games revenue for June 2023 barely increased by 0.11% going up to $76.2m.

Pennsylvania iGaming generated gross revenue of $135.4m during June 2023, reflecting an increase of 32% when compared to $102.9m in June 2022.

Total sports wagering handle was $373.2m, which is actually a drop of 5% when compared to the June 2022 total of $393.5m.

Video gaming terminals (VGTs) brought in $3.4m of revenue,Online Casino Games which is a decrease of 3% lower compared to YoY when the revenue was $3.5m in 2022.

Fantasy contests revenue decreased the most YoY, as Pennsylvania saw a decrease of 44%; with total revenue falling from $1.5m in June 2022, to $848,591 in June 2023.

Compared to the likes of New Jersey, the two states came very close with their statistics. 

In comparison, New Jersey did make more revenue overall in every vertical, except table games which Pennsylvania made more revenue in. However, New Jersey took in more than Pennsylvania in overall June revenue, generating $457.2m.
